Special day, special people.
Thanksgiving. Special day, special people. Here we are in Indiana Sharon's home State even if she was born in Chicago. This was such a very special day too, her whole family, brother Mike and Susan, sister Molly and Harold, daughter Kate and grandson Joseph, just short of 14, whom Molly had never met, living as she previously had down in Tennessee. We came by train down from Chicago on Wednesday, got into Indianapolis at midnight to be met by Molly and Harold, driven in their two cars to their new house which Sharon had never seen, out in the country 40 miles East with a barn and a shed and 8 acres of ground in the midst of flat fertile cornlands. Then Thanksgiving day, fourth Thursday in November and not quite the same as in Scotland, almost more enjoyed than Xmas. Everyone that can goes home for Thanksgiving and the trains crowded. Buzz came to join us, lives nearby, helped lay out the table, brought bits and pieces, entertained us, good company. The table, wine, ham, turkey, fixings, plenty in this land of plenty. Took a long time to rise from the table. Sharon is so very happy to see all her family together. The Pottingers, our family of 7, met in October 1997 from Norway, New Zealand, Australia, four of us still in Caithness, all together for the first time in 39 years, possibly the last time too with such a scattering and time moving on, the ranks thinning. So this was such a special day for Sharon that I must mention it. And for me too, my new family all together.
